Sandakan hosts Yayasan Sabah's career carnival

10th February, 2018

KOTA KINABALU: The Yayasan Sabah with the People Roadshow, which will be held at Dewan Serbaguna Libaran, Sandakan, today, will feature a career and entrepreneurship carnival.

Organised by state-owned agency, Yayasan Sabah Group, it will be be officiated by Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman who is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan Sabah.

Yayasan Sabah Director Datuk Sapawi Ahmad said the roadshow would highlight job and business opportunities available at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).

He said SICC offers jobs and business opportunities in event management, customer services, graphic services, audio visual services, security management, financial management, marketing, building management, maintenance, food and beverage, aviation and hospitality industries.

“Via SICC, Yayasan Sabah Group will also spark fumes to establish the ‘farm to table’ concept in a bigger way with innovations and tactical strategies, simultaneously ‘urbanising’ the farms,” he said in a statement Friday.

Yayasan Sabah Group recognises the potential of creating career opportunities in food and fibre from A-Z with multiple entry points, he said, adding that it would be an initiative by the creative team behind SICC, Yayasan Sabah Group to prepare a career map for all.

Yayasan Sabah Group is also collaborating with online employment portal JobsMalaysia in conducting open interview for job seekers during the roadshow, he added.

Seventy booths will be arrayed for the exhibitors, including Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju), Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, Majlis Amanah Rakyat Sabah, Yayasan Usaha Maju, the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority, Community Development Leaders Unit, Department of Veterinary Services and Animal Industry, Sabah Department of Agriculture, and Persatuan Industri Kecil dan Sederhana Wanita Bumiputra Sabah (IKSNita).

“Concurrently, the roadshow is an avenue to enhance the involvement of Bumiputera and rural community in economic activities.

“The programme also encourages small and medium enterprise development at the district level by disseminating information such as funding availability, human capital development and other initiatives,” he said. –Bernama
