Two village chiefs assigned to collect SESB payment

13th February, 2018

By JAMES LEONG

SANDAKAN: The village chiefs of Kampung Bakau and Kampung Bonggaya in Batu Sapi have been entrusted to collect payment from villagers for electricity usage in their respective settlements.

The matter was reiterated again at a recent meeting between Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) officials, Kampung Bakau village chief Kamlun Hassan, Kampung Bonggaya Village Development and Security Committee Chairman Ayantola Aman in the presence of Batu Sapi Member of Parliament Datuk Linda Tsen Thau Lin.

Also present was Head Liaison Officer of Batu Sapi MP Office Kong Nyuk Thou.

The temporary arrangement was reached after SESB cut off power to the Independent Power Distributor (IPD) which defaulted in payment (to SESB) last July and until a new company takes over as the IPD.

Among the reasons were to ensure prompt collection and settlement to SESB, and to prevent possible abuse by irresponsible quarters. The village chiefs will be accompanied by an officer from the elected representatives’ office when making payment to SESB.

Linda provided electrical accessories to be installed for better control on the usage of electricity and to deter illegal tapping at the two settlements.

Meanwhile, PBS Elopura Wanita members led by division head Datuk Linda Tsen brought Chinese New Year joy to residents of Sri Harapan Senior Citizens Home.

The visitors distributed goodie bags to 53 residents in conjunction with the occasion and also spent time with them during their visit to the Home.

Also present were Wanita Chief Tang Kah Kiang and Deputy Division Chairman Lam Che Hoi.
