KOTA KINABALU: Team Red emerged overall champions of the 17th Yayasan Sabah Foundation Technical College (KTYS) Sports Carnival that concluded here on Saturday.

The team won 10 gold, seven silver and six bronze medals to out-duel three other teams in games such as futsal, badminton, ping ping, bowling, chess, sepak takraw, carom, netball and tug-of-war.

Team Blue was second, followed by Green and Yellow.

More than 300 athletes comprising 204 students and 99 staff took part in the carnival at the KTYS Campus in Sembulan and the Yayasan Sabah sports complex in Likas.

KTYS chief executive, Wakim Tim said the carnival boosted unity of stakeholders of the college, strengthened ties between them and develop the character of the sportsmen and sportswomen.

The carnival also enabled the college to select its representatives to participate in the the Sabah Zone Student Sports Tournament and Institutions of Higher Learning Sports Championship.

Also present during the closing ceremony were KTYS dean, Petrus Jinuik, Organising Chairman Md Arifin Md Sunoh and KTYS manager of Corporate Communication Department, Ellen Sikodol, who gave away the prizes.
