KOTA KINABALU: JJ FC Tenom were crowned Sabah Regions champions of the Allianz Junior Football Camp (AJFC) Malaysia League 2018 Regional Finals after registering a comfortable 3-0 win over Safa Kota Belud at the Likas Stadium on Saturday.

The final match, played 30 minutes in each half, saw them take a 2-0 lead at halftime before adding the third after the break.

Mohd Nor Saifullizam Amri Faddlee opened their account with a fine strike in the 18th-minute before Mohd Nazmie Mohd Noor extended their lead three minutes before the break.

Degge Oliga Paulus sealed their win by slotting home the third during a goalmouth melee in the 49th-minute. Late on, Safa Kota Belud squandered the chance to reduce the deficit as their stoppage-time penalty kick was saved by the JJ FC custodian Jaifris Suani.

En route to the final, JJ FC, who claimed their semi-final ticket by virtual of winning the Group B challenge, overcome Menggatal Town Academy, who finished second in Group A.

As for Safa Kota Belud, they stunned Group A winner, TABS Bandaraya U-16, who eventually ended their campaign in third after edging Menggatal Town Academy 1-0 in the playoff.

Mohd Dzulazhar Nurikhmal scored the solitary goal in the playoff.

Meanwhile, the Best Player and Best Goalkeeper awards of the final match was won by JJ FC’s Rezjohny Mariyam and Jaifris Suani respectively while the league’s Best Player was won by Roy Rosshon Paul from Safa Kota Belud.
