RISM Sabah, AFLAG jointly organise international summit

KOTA KINABALU: The Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM) Sabah Branch with ASEAN Federation on Land Surveying and Geomatics (AFLAG) will organise the 6th Sabah International Congress & 2nd ASEAN Land Governance Summit.

The event on Aug 15-16 will be held at The Magellan Sutera Resort here. RISM Sabah has been organising the Sabah International Surveyors’ Congress (SISC) annually since 2013.

This year, SISC will be jointly organised with the 2nd ASEAN Land Governance Summit for the first time, in conjunction with the 67th ASEAN Federation of Land Surveying and Geomatics Council Meeting. The theme for the joint conference is: Land Governance in an Interconnected World.

The two-day conference which is co-organised by Sabah Land and Survey Department and Sabah Surveyors Board will be officiated by the Chief Minister Datuk Mohd Shafie Apdal.

The combined International Congress and Summit will bring together renowned speakers from ASEAN countries to share insight on the diversity of transformations, challenges and revolutions in land, construction, geomatics land surveying, quantity surveying, real estate and property management matters.

It will bring the participants the opportunity to get updated on the global standards of the surveying fields and the latest development from the distinguished practitioners in the region. There will be 35 renowned speakers of various related fields from Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Brunei and Taiwan.

Topics like Block Chain in Land Governance, Capacity Building in Land Governance for ASEAN Surveyors, The Progress of China High Resolution Satellite Applications, The Practices of High Resolution Remote Sensing Satellites Application of Guangxi, Evolution of Kota Kinabalu Landscape through Photography Mapping, Land Governance and Management, Mapping for Development and United Nations-Global Geospatial Information Management, Overview of Malaysia Property Market, Market Outlook after the Malaysia 14th General Election, and Intellectual Property – Knowing Your Intangible Assets.

Other topics to be delivered are Way Forward to Facilitate Subdivision of Modern Buildings, Service Charge and Share Units Determination, Introduction to SCL Protocol and Handling Documents for Progress Monitoring and Claims, Handling Time Delay and EOT Issues, Handling Prolonging and other Financial Claims.
