Students overwhelmed by visits to government-run administration

9th August, 2018

KOTA KINABALU: Around 41 students of SMK Tawau got a glimpse of how the government administration is being run when they visited the state Finance Ministry here yesterday.

The group comprising student leaders from Form One to Form Five were on a series of visits to the state capital for four days.

The students’ leader, Mohd Asad Mohd Salleh said that the experience of stepping into a ‘real’ government administrative office is overwhelming and a very motivating one.

“The design of the building and the office is amazing. I imagined what it feels like to work here, and that definitely motivates me to work harder in order to get to where I want to be in the future.

“My friends were equally amazed and we couldn’t stop taking pictures which, in a way promoting camaraderie among us,” he said.

According to the students’ chief chaperon, Mohamed Rafie Sabaktullah, throughout the four-day trip, the students were scheduled to visit UiTM, UMS, and a couple of secondary schools in the city to give them exposure.

He said the students will also be able to exchange their experiences with their counterparts in the schools that they will visit and learn from each other.

The group along with six teachers was hosted by Assistant Finance Minister, Sharifuddin Hatta.
