Enjoy full-length Le Corsaire ballet

KOTA KINABALU: For the first time in many years, the City community will be able to enjoy a 100-minute full-length ballet of Le Corsaire.

Executive Director of IEC (Inter Education Consult), Jasmine Leong told a press conference that the pirate tale ballet show will be held on August 24-25 at Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara (JKKN-Sabah) Auditorium along Jalan Penampang

“Le Corsaire the ballet has been performed by ballet companies worldwide and is based on an adventurous love story between a skillful pirate and an innocent beautiful harem girl.

“The story follows the escapades of a dashing pirate, Conrad, who journeys across the high seas to save his beautiful girl, Medora. It is a swashbuckling fantasy tale of captive maidens and cutthroats, love and betrayal.

“This (IEC KK) is our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) launched under IEC Heart for the Arts Foundation as the main organizer,” she said adding that the foundation established in order to provide platform for performing arts in Sabah to grow and develop, as well as to create opportunities for social and education development through art.

To make this event successful, the organiser is collaborating with City Ballet Performing Arts (Kuala Lumpur) under its Artistic Director Lu Wit-Chin.

Meanwhile, 50 of of the City’s ballerinas namely from Alpha Ballet, Ballet by Nora and Charlotte Dance Studio and 23 of City Ballet professional international and KL dancers will support the production.

“The ballerinas were selected through an audition on April and weekly rehearsal are well underway under the guidance of Ballet by Nora Principal, Nora Ridzwan and Sharon Ng of Alpha Ballet.

“The production will boast professional dancers includes formerly of Ballet Manila, Philippines, Alfren Salgado, Ballet Manila soloist, Hong Violet and Malaysian ballerina, Chew Zi Xin.”
